Obituary

Sarah M.Pocky,of 205 Wood St.Belle Vernon,died Saturday,April 18,1987,at 2:20 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. She was 80. Mrs.Pocky was born in Monessen on May 19,1906,a daughter of the late Edward and Alta Frye Cady. She was a member of First United Methodist Church,Belle Vernon. She lived in Belle Vernon since 1950,when she moved from Monessen. In 1969,she retired after 18 years of teaching in the elementery schools of the Belle Vernon Area School District. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her husband,Albert A.Pocky,on June 12,1983. Survivors include a son,Albert M.Pocky of Belle Vernon R.D.4,two daughters,Melva M.Pocky of Washington,D.C.,and Mrs.James (Carole) Chacko of Charleroi,a sister,Mrs.Mabel Anderson of Monessen,and seven grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon on Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday,11 a.m.,at the funeral home with the Rev.Thomas St.Clair,pastor of First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon and the Rev.Earl M.Lehman,pastor of First Baptist Church of Monessen,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Director Shelby D.Ferguson is in charge of the arrangements.
