Obituary

Harry G.Popp of 120 Marion Ave.,Belle Vernon,died Sunday,Dec.30,1984,at 9:30 a.m. in the Mon Valley Hospital. He was 77. Mr.Popp was born April 4,1907,in Belle Vernon,a son of the late George and Elizabeth Dudgeon Popp. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by three brothers,George,Watson and Allen,and three sisters,Jessie,Alice and Edna. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon,Mr.Popp celebrated 51 years of marriage last February. In 1972 he retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.where he had been employed by the Monessen Southwestern Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Survivors include his wife,Blanche Barnes Popp,a son,Harry Popp Jr.of Elizabeth Township,and two grandchildren. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where services will be held Wednesday,Jan.2 at 1 p.m. with the Rev.Mary Howard,pastor Marion Presbyterian Church,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
