Helen Dutko Skirpan Owens;76;of Grindstone;formerly of the Belle Vernon Apartments;died Sunday;June 3;1990;at 8:27 p.m.in Uniontown Hospital. She was born Dec.25;1913;in Monongahela;a daughter of the late John and Mary Muria Dutko. She was a lifelong resident of the Mon Valley. She was a member of St.Mary Byzantine Catholic Church;Monessen;and a member of the church’s Rosary Society and St.Sebastian Church Ladies Guild. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her first husband;Andrew Skirpan in 1957;her second husband Thomas Raymond Owens in 1972;and one stepson;Earl T.Owens. Survivors include one son;A.James Spanky Skirpan of Belle Vernon;one daughter;Mrs.Harry (Gerry) Shallenberger of Pleasant Hills;one stepson;Raymond Owens of Belle Vernon;one stepdaughter;Junita Taylor of the state of California;four sisters;Mrs.Mary Sanko of Donora;Mrs.Ann Povrzenich of Donora;Mrs.Agnes Yatsko of Toledo;Ohio;and Mrs.Marge Buday of Atlanta;12 grandchildren;two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon. A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m.;followed by Divine Liturgy at St.Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church;Monessen;with Msgr.Andrew D.Parvensky;pastor;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Service for the Dead will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m.in the funeral home. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
