James Owens;a resident of the Edgewood Nursing Home in Youngstown;Pa.;died Sunday;July 7;1985;in the Latrobe Hospital. A former resident of 410 Graham St.;Belle Vernon;for more than 30 years;he was 94. Mr.owens had resided in the Edgewood Nursing Home the past four years. He was born May 1;1891;in New Straitsville;Ohio;a son of the late James and Maggie Holt Owens. A U.S.Army veteran of World War I;Mr.Owens had served as a private first class in the 80th Division. He was a retired machine operator for the Maple Creek Mine. Survivors include his wife;Lillian Batten Owens;also a resident of the Edgewood Nursing Home;and one daughter;Mrs.Helen M.Briden of North Hollywood;Calif. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where services will be held Wednesday;July 10;at 11 a.m. with the Rev.Kenneth Neiderhiser;pastor of the Belle Vernon Church of the Nazarene;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson;funeral director;is in charge of arrangements.
