Obituary

William J. Owens,55,of Gillespie, Fayette City,died Monday, Feb. 18,1980,in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.  He was born in Washington Twp.,Jan. 25,1925,son of the late William and Ruth Hough Owens.  He was a member of the Pricedale Union Church and also was a U.S. Army veteran,having served in World Wat II.  Mr. Owens was employed as a truck driver for the Melenyzer Furniture Stores and was a member of Teamsters Local 872.  Surviving ae his widow,Mary Lou Baldwin Owens,one son,Robert E. Lees Jr.of Pricedale; one daughter,Mercedes D. Lees,at home;three brothers, Robert of R.D.Fayette City and Herbert and Richard,both of Belle Vernon; four sisters, Mrs Lee (Betty) Barnes of Fayette City,Mrs. Millard (Virginia) Book of LaFayette,Ind.,and Mrs. Edith Panzo and Mrs Russell,(Mary Ellen) Wilkinson,both of Belle Vernon,and two grandchildren,Robert E. Lees III and Richard Jason Lees.  Friends are bring received in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City.  Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Howard Rodebaugh officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
