William Owens of Gillespie;Fayette City R.D.1;died Thursday;Aug.17;1978;at 1:15 a.m. in Golden Age Nursing Home;Brownsville. He was 85. Mr.Owens was born March 4;1893 in Jackson;Ohio;a son of the late Thomas and Alice Pearce Owens. He was a retired employee of the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Mr.Owens was preceded in death by his wife;Ruth Hough Owens;in 1962. Survivors include four sons;William and Robert Owens;both of Fayette City R.D.1;and Herbert and Richard Owens;both of Belle Vernon;four daughters;Mrs.Lee (Betty) Barnes of Fayette City;Mrs.Emil (Edith) Panzo and Mrs.Russell (Mary Ellen) Wilkinson;both of Belle Vernon;and Mrs.Millard (Virginia) Book of Lafayette;Ind.;one brother;James Owens of Newell;five sisters;Mrs.Violet Fitzpatrick of Monongahela R.D.;Mrs.Margaret Walters of Charleroi;Mrs.Edith Snyder of Struthers;Ohio;Mrs.William (Agnes) Wickerham of Monongahela and Mrs.Alice Mitchner of Belle Vernon;16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;after 7 p.m.Thursday. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
