Obituary

William Owens of Gillespie,Fayette City R.D.1,died Thursday,Aug.17,1978,at 1:15 a.m. in Golden Age Nursing Home,Brownsville. He was 85. Mr.Owens was born March 4,1893 in Jackson,Ohio,a son of the late Thomas and Alice Pearce Owens. He was a retired employee of the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Mr.Owens was preceded in death by his wife,Ruth Hough Owens,in 1962. Survivors include four sons,William and Robert Owens,both of Fayette City R.D.1,and Herbert and Richard Owens,both of Belle Vernon,four daughters,Mrs.Lee (Betty) Barnes of Fayette City,Mrs.Emil (Edith) Panzo and Mrs.Russell (Mary Ellen) Wilkinson,both of Belle Vernon,and Mrs.Millard (Virginia) Book of Lafayette,Ind.,one brother,James Owens of Newell,five sisters,Mrs.Violet Fitzpatrick of Monongahela R.D.,Mrs.Margaret Walters of Charleroi,Mrs.Edith Snyder of Struthers,Ohio,Mrs.William (Agnes) Wickerham of Monongahela and Mrs.Alice Mitchner of Belle Vernon,16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,after 7 p.m.Thursday. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
