Obituary

Clifford D. Naylor,79,of Belle Vernon R.D.2,died Thursday,March 16,1995,at his home.  Born July 1,1915,in Webster, he was a son of the late Alfred W. and Eliza Taylor Naylor. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a captain in Company D of the Chemical Mortar Battalion in the Philippines and the South Pacific. Mr. Naylor was a 1933 graduate of Monessen High School and a 1938 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania. He also did graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Naylor worked for 36 years in the Rostraver and Belle Vernon School districts as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent. He was a member and trustee of Pricedale Union Church and was the first president and a charter member of Rostraver Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Award in 1992. Mr. Naylor was a member of F&AM Lodge 643, Belle Vernon, the Scottish Rite Lodge Perfection of Uniontown, the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh and Rostraver Township AARP. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Naylor; and two sisters, Luetta France and Evelyn George. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Carnes Naylor; four daughters, Mrs. Dino (Susan) Torlone of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Keith (Sally) Johnston of Salem, Va., Mrs. Jack (Nancy) Jolley of Fayette City R.D., and Mrs. Michael (Debbie) Cline of Flattop, W Va.; one brother, Kenneth Naylor of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Mary Naylor of Belle Vernon R.D. 4; and 11 grandchildren, Jason Seabury, Aimee and Anthony Torlone, Brandon and Morgan Cline, Erik and Kirk Johnston, Jennifer Jolley Middlesadt, and Kristen, Tricia and John Jolley. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc., Sweeney Plan, Rostraver Township,where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.James Mimidis and Dr. Keith Johnston officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  Belle Vernon F&AM Lodge will conduct masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.  The James C.Stump Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
