John A.Nelson;of 400 Fell St.;Belle Vernon;died Wednesday;Jan.21;1981 in the Veterans Administration Hospital;Oakland. He was 74. Born Nov.26;1906 in Fayette City;he was the son of the late Alfred and Margaret Forslund Nelson. He had been a life-long resident of the Belle Vernon area. Mr.Nelson retired in 1966 as a gauger at the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel;Allenport plant. He was a veteran of World War II;having served with the U.S.Army Infantry. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Fayette City and the American Legion Post 659;Belle Vernon. Survivors include his widow;Catherine Kovanic Nelson;a daughter Mrs.James (Shirley) K.Bair of Perryopolis;a brother;Harry Nelson of Fayette City;a sister;Mrs.Lydia Beazell of Fayette City;three grandchildren;Amy;Michael and Lauri Bair;all of Perryopolis;a nephew;John Chris Nelson and a niece;Beth Lynn Nelson;both of Fayette City. He was preceded in death by three sisters;Lucille;Esther and Mildred Nelson. Friends will be received in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.at the funeral home with the Rev.Fred Gnatuk;pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Fayette City;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. American Legion Post 659;Belle Vernon;will conduct services at the funeral home on Friday at 7:15 p.m. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
