George J. Niznansky,275 Schoonmaker Ave.,Monessen, died Saturday April 22,1978 at 8 a.m. in the Charleroi Division,Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Sept. 26,1906 in Palmerton,Pa., Mr. Niznansky operated the Steel City Grille in Monessen for the past 18 years. He served with the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 659. Belle Vernon. He was also a member of the Polish National Alliance of Monessen,the Slovak Beneficial Society and St. John's Lutheran Church, both of Charleroi. Mr. Niznansky is survived by his widow, Joan Miert Niznansky; one son, George John Niznansky at home;one daughter, Mrs. Joan Bateman of Seattle,Wash.,and one brother,Rudolph Niznansky of Czechoslovakia. Friends will be received in the Ed Melenyzer Funeral Home,262 Donner Ave.,Monessen, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Private funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home,with the Rev. Stephen Hurnyak,pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church,Charleroi, officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Mon Valley Hospital Building Fund,or a charity of the person's choice.
