Obituary

Schuyler C.(Jack) Marshall,83,of California,Pa.,died peacefully with his children at his side on Saturday,May 13,2000. He was born Nov.2,1916,in Warren,Pa.,a son of the late Schuyler and Florence (Watchorn) Marshall. He was a retired professor of U.S.and Constitutional history at California University of Pennsylvania. During hie lifetime,Jack also worked as an usher at Forbes Field,taught at Langley High School and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a veteran of World War II,and a lifelong member of the American Chess Federation. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by three sisters,and in 1991,by his wife of 49 years,Doris Rosseau Marshall. Survivors include his children,Alice M.Cook and husband,David,of Glen Dale,W.Va.and Carl E.Marshall and wife Christy,with whom he made his home,and seven grandchildren,Steven,Andrea and Suzanne Cook,Catie,Doris,Schuyler and Arthur Marshall. A memorial service will be held on Friday,May 19,2000,at 11 a.m.at the United Christian Church,Malden Crossroads,California,Pa. In lieu of flowers,the family requests memorial donations be made to the United Christian Church building fund,P.O.Box 532,California,Pa.,15419 or the California University of Pennsylvania Library.
