John C.Mattey;86;of Belle Vernon;Rostraver Township;died Tuesday;Dec.21;1999;in his home. He was born Nov.9;1913;in Monessen;a son of the late John and Mary Serbak Mattey. He was retired from the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. A U.S.Army veteran of World War II;he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 167;Charleroi. He was Catholic by faith. Survivors include three sons;John C.Mattey Jr.of Smithton;and Thomas L.and William R.Mattey;both of Rostraver Township;seven grandchildren;Jennifer Mattey;John Mattey;Jaclyn Mattey;Missy Jarvis;T.J.Mattey;Justin L.Mattey and Eric W.Mattey. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by his wife;Rosalia Lil Mattey on June 8;1976;two brothers;Joseph and George Matty;and one sister;Mary Adamczyk. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the JAMES C.STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC.;580 Circle Drive;Sweeney Plan/Rostraver Township;where a Blessing service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
