Obituary

Dorothy Mathews,83,of 68 McKinley Ave.,Charleroi,died Saturday,July 6,1996,in the emergency room of Mon Valley Hospital.  She was born Sept. 30,1913,in Harvest,Ala,a daughter of the late Herbert and Mary Lesley Burruss. She was a homemaker most of her life. She was a resident of the Charleroi area for more than 50 years. She was a member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church,Charleroi,where she was a very active member and former missionary until she became ill. Survivors include her stepmother,Ethel Burruss of Alabama;one daughter,Mary Goins of San Diego,Calif.;six brothers,O.C. and Theodore Burruss of Madison,Ala.,and Ted,Harrison,Henry and Phillip Burress, all of Huntsville,Ala.;six sisters,Addie Lewis and Ree Burruss,both of Madison,Ala.,Eliza Teague and Corine Pickett,both of Huntsville,Ala.,Gloria Wesley of Chattanooga,Tenn.,and Mary Doss of Nashville,Tenn.;five grandchildren,Ebony Goins,who lived with her all of her life,Warrene (Princess) and Angelic Goins,and James and Gerald Bonner;and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents,she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Mathews;and one son,James Bonner. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. in the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church,Charleroi,where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wanda L. Sawyer,pastor,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The William R. Taylor Funeral Home,Monessen,is in charge of the arrangements.
