Henry Matthews of 524 Oneida St.;Monessen;formerly of Perryopolis R.D.2;died Wednesday;April 25;1984;at 1:20 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Twp.;after a lengthy illness. He was 82. Mr.Matthews was born Aug.12;1901;in Lonaconing;Md. He was a retired employee of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. Mr.Matthews was a Protestant by faith. He was preceded in death by his wife;Hazel Beeman Matthews;on Aug.14;1965;and by a son;William Matthews;on Nov.14;1964. Surviving are one daughter;Mrs.Silvio (Cleo) Angeline of Monessen;three grandchildren;four great-grandchildren;two brothers;William and Robert Matthews;both of Lonaconing;Md.;and one sister;Mrs.Helen Peters of Clairton. Friends are being received from 7 to 9 p.m.Thursday;from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Friday and until 11 a.m.Saturday when services will be held at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;with Rev.C.E.Stollings;pastor of the Fayette City United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
