Florence Rice McKenna of 111 Fayette St.;Fayette City;died Monday;Sept.5;1983;at 7:55 a.m.in Jefferson Hills Manor;Jefferson Borough;following a lengthy illness. She was 81. Born in Fayette City;Aug.21;1902;she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Duffy Rice. Mrs.McKenna was a member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church of Fayette City. She was preceded in death by her first husband;James P.Gaffney in 1944 and her second husband;Frank McKenna in 1972. Also preceding her in death were three brothers;William;Wilbur and Charles Rice and two sisters;Mary Allen and Blanche Park. Surviving are her daughter;Mrs.Harry J.(Patty) Palmer Jr.of Fayette City;two grandchildren;two sisters;Mrs.Geneva Kuhns and Mrs.Margaret Harris;both of Fayette City and several nieces and nephews. Friends are being received on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;where a Rosary will be said Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.and a Parish wake service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Prayer services Thursday begin at 9:30 a.m.followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church of Fayette City. Rev.Father Thomas G.Rinn;pastor of the church;will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
