Obituary

Florence Rice McKenna of 111 Fayette St.,Fayette City,died Monday,Sept.5,1983,at 7:55 a.m.in Jefferson Hills Manor,Jefferson Borough,following a lengthy illness. She was 81. Born in Fayette City,Aug.21,1902,she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Duffy Rice. Mrs.McKenna was a member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church of Fayette City. She was preceded in death by her first husband,James P.Gaffney in 1944 and her second husband,Frank McKenna in 1972. Also preceding her in death were three brothers,William,Wilbur and Charles Rice and two sisters,Mary Allen and Blanche Park. Surviving are her daughter,Mrs.Harry J.(Patty) Palmer Jr.of Fayette City,two grandchildren,two sisters,Mrs.Geneva Kuhns and Mrs.Margaret Harris,both of Fayette City and several nieces and nephews. Friends are being received on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,where a Rosary will be said Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.and a Parish wake service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Prayer services Thursday begin at 9:30 a.m.followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church of Fayette City. Rev.Father Thomas G.Rinn,pastor of the church,will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
