Sam Merando,85,of 407 Shady Ave.,Monessen,died at 7:15 a.m.,Wednesday, April 26,1980,in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born in Italy July 7,1894,son of the late Anthony and Maria Oliverto Merando,and was a member of St. Caetan R.C.Church,NIPA,Italian Society of Mutual Aid,American Legion Post 28 and the Monessen VFW. He was preceded in death by his first wife,Mary Leone Merando,in 1965;one sister, Mrs. Mary DeRose in 1979 and a brother, Louis Merando in 1969.Surviving are his widow, Jennie Bucci Merando;two sons, Anthony and Louis,both of Monessen;one daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Marie) Litterini of Monessen;five grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Audio of Monessen and Sister Maria Del Calbario of Italy;four stepdaughters, Mrs. Anthony (Elizabeth) Frank of Monessen,Mrs. Dominick (Marie) Valente of Monessen,Mrs. Irvin (Dolores) Becken of Ontario,N.Y.,and Mrs. James (Joyce) Cunningham of Belle Vernon;two stepsons,Michael Bucci of rural Belle Vernon and Joseph of Elmira,N.Y.;20 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Raymond D. Dalfonso Funeral Home,441 Reed Ave.,Monessen,Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Blessing service will be Saturday at 9 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with the Rev. P. Lino Ramellini as celebrant. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Parish Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. on Friday.
