Walter E. Lucas,86,of 392 Fell Street rear, Belle Vernon,died Wednesday,Jan. 22,1997,at 9:35 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born Aug. 26,1910,in Roscoe, a son of the late John and Anna Netspoon Lucas. Mr. Lucas was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon community. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,and the Belle Vernon Golden Age Assembly. He retired as an oiler for Wheeling-Pittsbugh Steel, Monessen plant. Surviving are his wife, Eliabeth Ann Antal Lucas,with whom he would have celebrated 61 years of marriage,Feb. 12;two sons, Walter M. Lucas of New Jersey and Robert Lucas of Steubenville,Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Duessel of Pittsburgh; a sister, Mrs. Edward (Joan ) Tegel of Belle Vernon; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and John Lucas and a sister, Helen Paproski. Friends will be received in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Prayer service will be held Saturday a 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home,followed by Funeral Mass at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Legion of Mary will recite the Rosary Friday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. The Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
