Obituary

Alfred Little Sr , 86, of Monessen died Thursday, Nov 10, 1988, at 9:45 p.m. in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Aspinwall, Pittsburgh. Mr. Little was born Nov. 4,1902, in Chambersburg, Pa., a son of the late Emma Little. He retired after 36 years of service as a steelworker in the former Donora Works of United States Steel Corporation.  Mr Little was a U S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 until his honorable discharge as a staff sergeant in 1945. In 1961, Mr. Little was installed as commander of American Legion Post No. 691, Monessen. He was also a member of Union Baptist Church, Monessen, and was a deacon of the church. Mr. Little was also a past member of the Mon Valley Branch NAACP, the BPO Elks, and the Masonic Order. Surviving are his wife, Helen; one son, Alfred Little Jr., of Philadelphia; two stepsons, Arnold Rice of Wilmington, Del., and Maurice Rice of Monessen; eight grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Friends will be received Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Union Baptist Church, Monessen,where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m.,with the Rev. Lester Strader,pastor,officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Draper Funeral Home,608 Sixth St.,Monessen,is in charge of arrangements.
