George Lemon;57;of 927 Henry St.;Belle Vernon;was dead on arrival at Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital on Tuesday;Jan.3;1978 at 9:30 a.m. He was born in Manning;S.C. on June 26;1920;son of the late Douglas and Hattie Lemon;and had lived in the Belle Vernon area the past 45 years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church;Belle Vernon;and was graduated from Belle Vernon Area High School in 1940. Mr.Lemon retired from the Cokeburg Coal Mine in Oct.1976. He was co-owner of the Jerry Tavern in Hiller. He also belonged to F&AM Lodge;Light of the Valley;No.132;of Brownsville;and the William Dickerson Sportsmen’s Club of Brownsville. Surviving are one daughter;Myrna Gail Lemon of Hiller;one granddaughter;Shannon Marie Lemon of Hiller;one sister;Mrs.Lena Lemon Payne;at home;and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Beverly C.Draper Funeral Home;Monessen;from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.Thursday and from 11:30 a.m.to 9 p.m.Friday at the Antioch Baptist Church;Belle Vernon. Services will be held at the church on Saturday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Luther Wormack;pastor;officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Masonic Services will be held at 8 p.m.Friday at the church. Beverly C.Draper is funeral director in charge.
