Obituary

Joseph Kostelac,83,of 337 Green St.,Belle Vernon,died Friday,April 17,1998,at home. Born Nov.23,1914,in Fairhope,he was the son of the late Nicholas and Barbara Novisel Kostelac. A resident of Belle Vernon for most of his adult life,Mr.Kostelac was a member of First Christian Church of Belle Vernon. He retired in 1973 from the former Banning Mine. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by one son,Charles DeHosse,in 1988,and two daughters,Shirley Witmyer in 1992 and Lois Mazur in 1997. Surviving are his wife,Zelma Hammitt Kostelac,whom he married Aug.26,1944,one daughter and son-in-law,Norma and Neal Keller of Mt.Clemens,Mich.,three brothers,Thomas Kostelac of Fayette City,Matthew Kostelac of Hutchinson and Nicholas Kostelac of Monessen,four sisters,Bertha Shaw of Dunlevy,Millie LLoyd of Fairhope,Sophie Bachinski of Monessen and Mary Paholsky of Belle Vernon, 11 grandchildren,16 great-grandchildren,and seven great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. Services will be held Monday at 1 p.m.in the funeral home with the Rev.Donald A.Bowers,pastor of First Christian Church,Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.
