Obituary

John E.(Sodie) Kasuda Sr.,81,of Glen Burnie,Md.,formerly of Arnold City,died Monday,Feb.21,1994,in the North Arundel Hospital,Glen Burnie,following a short illness. He was born May 20,1912,in New Salem,a son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Hanov Kasuda. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,Fayette City,a member of the Polish National Alliance 976 of Arnold City. He was a retired coal miner,having worked for Republic Steel Co.in the mining division. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America District 5. He was a retired teacher with the now Belle Vernon Area School District. Survivors include his wife,Helen (Kovesky) Kasuda,one son and daughter-in-law,John E.and Patricia Kasuda Jr.of Glen Burnie,three grandsons,John Michael,Paul Joseph and Mark Steven Kasuda,and two sisters,Ann Marcinko of Arnold City and Elizabeth (Betty) Kundrick of Lynnwood. Friends will be received in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,334 Main St.,Fayette City,on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.and Saturday until 9:30 a.m.,when a prayer service will be held,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church,Fayette City,with the Rev.Richard E.Mackiewicz as celebrant. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. A parish wake service will be held Friday at 8 p.m.in the funeral home. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
