Obituary

Walter E.Karbowsky,47,of 102 Lee Drive,Belle Vernon,died Saturday,Feb.4,1989,at 12:14 a.m. in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Twp. He was born on Aug.21,1941,in Pricedale,a son of the late Joseph and Helen Furtak Karbowsky Sr. Mr.Karbowsky was preceded in death by three brothers,Daniel,Michael and Joseph Karbowsky Jr.,and a sister,Florence. He was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area and was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon. Mr.Karbowsky was a graduate of Rostraver High School and LaFayette College in Eastern Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the U.A.Army and served in the Vietnam conflict. Mr.Karbowsky was awarded the National Defense Service Medal,Vietnam Service Medal,Purple Heart,Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman's Badge. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign War Belle Vernon Post 3557,Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659,Belle Vernon Athletic Association,Marconi Club of Smithton and Chartiers Valley Personnel Association. Mr.karbowsky was a personel industrial relations manager for Bloom Engineering of Baldwin. He is survived by his wife,Marsha Schwaner Karbowsky, a son,Daniel J.Karbowsky,at home,a daughter,Marsha Ann Karbowsky,at home,two brothers,John Karbowsky of Belle Vernon and William Karbowsky of Smithton,and a sister,Dorothy Karbowsky of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,where a prayer service will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m.,followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
