Celeste "Cookie" Phyllis Wilcox-James,68,passed peacefully from this life on Nov. 18,2016,after a gradual decline in health. Cookie was born in Monessen on April 2,1948,but was a resident of Clarkston,Ga.where she lived the remainder of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents,Cortez Wilcox Sr.and Harriet Ward-Wilcox,both of Monessen. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. She was a 1967 graduate of South Hills High School,Pittsburgh. In 1981,she attended the Connelly Skill and Trade Center in Pittsburgh,where she received her license as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was licensed in Pennsylvania and Georgia. Cookie was employed at the PRN Private Duty Agency,the Canterberry Place,the Highland Drive Veterans Administration and Collins Health Center,all of which are located in Pittsburgh;the Rosemont Rehab Center of Stone Mountain,Ga.;and The Residence at Hilltop in Carroll Township. Cookie is survived by four children,Ezzard Charles James,Jr. of Florida,Tracie Lynn James and Lisa James of Clarkston,Ga.,with whom she resided,and Derek Darwin of Pittsburgh;ten grandchildren who lovingly called her "grandparent," Ikeem,Tiara,SanTosha,Dairon,Nazir,Marin,LaNiyah,LaNaejah,Danae and Paige; and one great-grandchild,Aria. She is also survived by five sisters,Alyce Marie Wilcox-Aldrich (Larry) of Monessen,Janet Carson,Carolyn Carson and Kathi Carson-Nix,all of Indianapolis,Ind.,and Linda Carson of Chicago,ILL.;five brothers,Randy Wilcox and Eric Wilcox (Virgie) both of Indianopolis,Ind.,Nathaniel Wilcox,Jim Carson (Tahndrea) of Chicago,ILL.,and Shaun Rendleman of Monessen;three aunts,Minister Millie Ward-Thomas of Monessen,Darlene Ward-Pugh of Ohio and Lois Ward of Michigan;two uncles,Herman Ward of Pittsburgh and Boogie Ward of Michigan,and many nieces,nephews,cousins,and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers,Cortex Ailcox Jr.,Derek Wilcox and Alan Carson. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday,Nov.26,at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church,230 Reed Ave.,Monessen,Minister Millie Thomas is the officiant. ALDRICH FUNERAL HOME,431 East Ninth Ave.,Munhall,is in charge of arrangements.
