Obituary

Steve J.Kocian of 10 James St.,Belle Vernon,died suddenly Nov. 30,1983 at 10 a.m.in his home. He was 71. Mr.Kocian was born Aug.18,1912,in North Charleroi,a son of the late Frank and Mari Janac Kocian. He retired in 1977 as a clerk at the U.S.Postal Service's Belle Vernon branch office. A life-long resident of the Belle Vernon area,Mr.Kocian was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659,Belle Vernon VFW Post 3557,and the East Belle Vernon Athletic Association. He was preceded in death by a brother,Frank Kocian Jr.in 1971,and by a sister,Rose Sedlak,in 1973. Surviving are six sisters,Mrs.Thomas (Helen) Mogan of the state of Massachusetts,Mrs.Joseph (Agnes) Fidnarik of Belle Vernon,Mrs. Frank (Mary) Blunenstock of the state of New Jersey,Mrs.Maruice (Ann) Jeffers of the state of Michigan,Mrs.Joseph (Margaret) Butera of Charleoi,and Mrs.Dolores Snyder of the state of Ohio,nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home,626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 Services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 7:15 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home,followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
