Steve J.Kocian of 10 James St.;Belle Vernon;died suddenly yesterday at 10 a.m.in his home. He was 71. Mr.Kocian was born Aug.18;1912;in North Charleroi;a son of the late Frank and Mari Janac Kocian. He retired in 1977 as a clerk at the U.S.Postal Service’s Belle Vernon branch office. A life-long resident of the Belle Vernon area;Mr.Kocian was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church;Belle Vernon;Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659;Belle Vernon VFW Post 3557;and the East Belle Vernon Athletic Association. He was preceded in death by a brother;Frank Kocian Jr.in 1971;and by a sister;Rose Sedlak;in 1973. Surviving are six sisters;Mrs.Thomas (Helen) Mogan of the state of Massachusetts;Mrs.Joseph (Agnes) Fidnarik of Belle Vernon;Mrs. Frank (Mary) Blunenstock of the state of New Jersey;Mrs.Maruice (Ann) Jeffers of the state of Michigan;Mrs.Joseph (Margaret) Butera of Charleoi;and Mrs.Dolores Snyder of the state of Ohio;nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 Services will be held at the funeral home Friday at 7:15 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home;followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church;Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
