Irene Lucas Phillips James, 82, Charhouse Senior Citizens Building, Charleroi, died on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1991, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born on Aug. 15,1909, in Gibson, Pa., a daughter of the late Joe and Allie Phillips. Mrs. James was a lifelong resident of the Mld-Mon Valley, living in Monessen, Donora and Charleroi. She was retired from Everyday People in Monessen. Mrs. James was a member of the Wayman Church in Monessen where she was active on the Missionary Board. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John James, and two sons Billy and Donald James. Survivors include four sons, John Jr. and Robert James, both of Monessen, Richard James of Donora and Gerald James of Rochester, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Warren (Donna) Alien of Ciairton; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Iva Johnson of Donora, Jesse Branch of Monessen, Myrtle Davenport of Monongahela and Catherine Loins of New York; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and one good friend, Leroy Brewington of Monessen. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home, 608 6th St., Monessen. Funeral services will be held Saturday,Sept.28 at 11 a.m.at Wayman Church in Monessen with Rev.Robert Taylor officiating. Interment will be in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Beverly C.Draper Funeral Home.
