Curtis Ray Hawker, 78,of Lowber,RD Fayette City, died Thursday,Aug. 24,2000,in his home. He was born Aug. 3,1922, in Fayette City,a son of the late George Curtis and Freda Murphy Hawker. He was a member of Little Redstone Presbyterian Church,RD,Fayette City, a 25-year member and past master of Gummert Lodge 252 F&AM,Fayette City,and a 1948 graduate of Western Pennsylvania Horological Institute,Pittsburgh. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by two brothers, O'Neil Hawker in 1966 and Allen Wayne Hawker in 1995. He is survived by his wife, Ida Nichols Hawker,whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage on July 28,2000; children, Bruce Hawker and wife, Joyce of Vanderbilt, Keith Hawker and wife,Deborah of Rostraver Township and Almeda Beeman and husband, Raymond, of Perryopolis,five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home,334 Main St. Fayette City on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.,Sunday 12 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday until the hour of services at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Keith Conover officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Gummert Lodge 252 and F&AM service will be Sunday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
