Ruth Leithold Tiernan Horning;85;of Belle Vernon Apartments;died Thursday;Jan.9;1997;in Mon Valley hospital. She was born in Arnold City;May 11;1911;a daughter of the late Paul and Ella Chambers Leithold. Mrs.Horning was a member of Marion Presbyterian Church. She had resided in Belle Vernon since April of 1996 and was formerly of Uniontown and the state of California. Surviving are a son;Wayne K.Tiernan of Los Angeles;two daughters;Mrs.Dr.Arthur (Lois) Varga of Monroeville and Mrs.John (Shirley) Staranko of Palmdale;Calif.;one brother;William Leithold of Belle Vernon;five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her first husband;James Tiernan in 1973;her second husband;Kenneth J.Horning in 1985;two brothers;Fred and Wilbur Leithold;and a sister;Dorothy Leithold. Friends will be received in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 11:30 a.m.with the Rev.John C.Park;pastor of Marion Presbyterian Church;officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of the arrangements.
