Richard J.Holder;76;of 1021 Hunters Trace;Mount Pleasant;S.C.;died Monday Feb.20;1995;at 5:30 p.m.in Roper Hospital;Charleston;S.C. He was born in North Belle Vernon June 14;1918;a son of the late John L.and Maude Richards Holder. Mr.Holder was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. He had lived in South Carolina for the last 10 years;formerly residing in Johnston;R.I.;and Belle Vernon. He retired 11 years ago as an administrator for the Halsworth House in Providence;R.I. A veteran of World War II;he served as a sergeant in the 28th division. Mr.Holder was a member of the Battle of Normandy Foundation. He was a life member of the Military Order of the Ardennes and also a life member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War. Additionally;he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He was honorably dischared in 1946 after serving as a German prisoner of war for 15 months. Surviving are a brother;Jack Holder of Belle Vernon;and a sister;Mrs.Joseph (Dolores) Balogh of Spring Valley;Ohio;two nieces and three nephews. In addiiton to his parents;he was preceded in death by a brother;Warren Holder;who was killed in action during World War II and a sister;Margaret Christopher. Friends will be received in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;700 Broad Ave;Belle Vernon;Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 1 p.m.with the Rev.Dr.Thomas St.Clair of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery;Belle Vernon. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;is in charge of the arrangements.
