Obituary

Thomas J. Hewitt,37,of York,formerly of Belle Vernon,died Thursday,May 30,1991,in Johns Hopkins University Hospital,Baltimore, Md.,following a brief illness.  He was born Jan.20,1954,in Belle Vernon,a son of the late Charles and Margaret Simms Hewitt.  Mr. Hewitt was a member of the First Presbyterain Church in York. He had been employed as a computer programmer at Stoner Associates in Carlisle. A 1971 graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School,he had graduated from the Pennsylvania State University where he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and had attended Point Park College.  He obtained his master's degree in computer science from Johns Hopkins University. Mr. Hewitt was a 32nd degree Mason at the Belle Vernon Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Linda M. Datt Hewitt;a son,David Thomas Hewitt,at home;two brothers,Charles Hewitt of Belle Vernon and John Hewitt of Bremerton,Wash.;and three sisters,Lavina McClain of San Jose,Calif.,Zeta Morgan of Belle Vernon and Penny Kerr of Polk. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at John Calvin Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church,225 East Market St.,York,with the Rev. Burton J. Parry officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Music Program at the First Presbyterain Church,225 East Market St.,York,Pa.17403.  The John W. Keffer Funeral Home,Inc. of York is in charge of the arrangements.
