Lewis Horvath, a former resident of North Charleroi, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 1988, at the Presbyterian Medical Center in Washington, Pa. Mr. Horvath was 90. He was born March 22, 1897, in Charleroi, a son of the late Louis and Julianna Demeter Horvath. He was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Charleroi. Mr. Horvath retired in 1962 as superintendent of the electrical department at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., where he had worked for 46 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Murphy Horvath, who died in 1982, and a daughter, Virginia Carney, who died in 1984. He is survived by one son, Louis J. Horvath of Charleroi R.D. 1; two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Melenyzer of Belle Vernon and Mrs John (Pat) Mullin of North Charleroi; one brother, William J. Bond of Monessen; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Vangilder and Mrs. Fred (Alice) Madeira, both of Morgantown, W.Va., and Mrs. Emma Dolan of Pittsburgh; 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.Friends will be received Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home, Inc., 226 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.in the funeral home,with the Rev.Francis M.Blair,pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Charleroi,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Schrock-Hogan Funeral Home,Inc.,is in charge of arrangements.
