James E. Humphries of 112 Second St.,Monessen died Sunday,Aug. 14,1983 in the Mon Valley Hospital. He was 69. Mr. Humphries was born July 27,1914,in Durham,N.C.,a son of Elma Humphries of Washington,D.C.,and the late John W. Humphries. He was retired from the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Survivors include four sons, James Jr.,Willie,Ronald and Kerry,all of Michigan;two daughter,Harriet and Cheryl,both of Michigan;three sisters,Martha Humphries of Monessen,and Dorcas Glascoe and Naomi Towler,both of Wahington,D.C.;one brother,Samuel Humphries of Monessen;11 grandchildren;two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home,608 Sixth St.,Monessen. Funeral services will be held Friday,Aug. 19,at 11 a.m. in Wayman A.M.E. Church,Monessen,with the Rev. Oscar L. Hill officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Beverly C. Draper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
