Obituary

W. Leonard Gwyer, 92, of Warren, Ohio, died Monday, April 15, 1996, in the Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was born Dec 31, 1903, in Monessen,a son of the late Charles G. Gwyer and Hannah McMahon Gwyer. Mr. Gwyer went to work for Republic Steel Corp in Niles, Ohio, in 1930 and worked as a general foreman for 40 years. He was also an avid Ham radio operator under the call letters W8UUI and he was a member of the American Radio Relay League. He was also a member of St James Catholic Church, Warren. Survivors include his wife, Helen Capak Gywer, whom he married on Sept. 15, 1972, one daughter, Mrs Bernard (Ann) Mientus of Painesville, Ohio, one son, William L Gwyer of Fort Worth, Texas, two stepdaughters, Mrs James (Dorothy) Snyder of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jane Wolf of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and two grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Price Gwyer, on April 11,1964, whom he married on Feb 4, 1934, and three brothers and two sisters,icluding Walter Gwyer. Friends will be received Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert H. Roberts-Clark Memorial Home, 180 Garfield Drive, N.E., Warren, Ohio. Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church, Warren, Ohio. Interment will be held Thursday at the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. James Church. The Robert H. Roberts-Clark Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
