Helen Galayda;82;of 305 Johnson Ave.;Belle Vernon;died Friday;March 10;1989;at 11:25 p.m. in Mercy Hospital;Pittsburgh. She was born June 27;1906 in Czechoslovakia. She was a member of St.Sebastain Roman Catholic Church;Belle Vernon;and the Christian Mothers of the Church. Mrs.Galayda was also a member of the Belle Vernon Golden Agers. She had been a resident of Belle Vernon since 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband;Joseph;on March 3;1974. Survivors include two daughters;Mrs.Chris(Emma)Maione of Hesperia;Calif.;and Mrs.George(Liz)Bennett of Pittsburgh;four sons;Joseph P.of Boca Raton;Fla.;John S.of Monessen;Frank of Bloomington;Calif.;and James of Monessen;four sisters;Mary;Anna;Emma and Gizll;all of Czechoslovakia;one sister-in-law;Bertha Nagy of Claysville;12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Ferguson Funeral Home;Inc.;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayer service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home;followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.in St.Sebastian Church;Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.;is in charge of arrangements.
