Ruth E. Gray,90,of 355 Pennsylvania Ave.,North Charleroi,died Saturday,July 16,1988,in South Hills Convalescent Center. She was born in Connellsville on Jan.3,1898,a daughter of the late Sylvester and Bertha Dobrick Desmond. She was a resident of the Charleroi area for 50 years. She was a member of St. Jerome's Roman Catholic Church,Catholic Daughters of America No.659 and the AARP,all of Charleroi. Prior to her retirement,she was a sales clerk at the Montgomery Ward store in Charleroi. She was preceded in death by her husband,Earl R. Gray,in 1951;a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Lynch,in 1984,and by five brothers,Frank, Lawrence,Raymond,Robert and James Desmond. Surviving are two daughters,Mrs. Eugene (Margaret) Paterline of Munhall and Mrs. Walter (Anna Ruth) Keck of North Charleroi;eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;one brother,Carl S. Desmond of Somerset,and a sister,Mrs. Jess (Bertha Mae) Moore of Indianapolis, Ind. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Carl J. Spallino Funeral Home,819 Fallowfield Ave.,Charleroi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Jerome's Roman Catholic Church,Charleroi,with Rev. John Marcucci officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Carl J. Spallino Funeral Home.
