Obituary

James Daniel Garner of 130
Branthoover St., Arnold City,
died Wednesday,Dec.28,1983 at 8 a.m. in the Canonsburg Nursing
Home. He was 83.
Mr. Garner was born Aug.
28,1900, in Leisenring No. 2, a
son of the late Thomas and
Mary Garner.
He was a retired coal
miner.
Mr. Garner had been a resident of Arnold City for more
than 50 years.
He was a member of the
Antioch Baptist Church, Belle
Vernon and was a deacon of
the church.
He also was past exalted
ruler of the Okay Elks Lodge
No. 697, Monessen.
Mr. Garner was a former
member of the Golden Agers
and the Retired Mine
Workers of the Yablonski memorial Clinic. A member of the United Mine Workers of America,he was a former financial secretary of the united Mine Workers Local Union in Pricedale. Mr.Garner was preceded in death by three brothers,William,Thomas and Garfield Garner,and by one sister,Carrie Turner. Surviving are his wife,Nancy Lillian Garner of Arnold City,five sons,James w. Sellers of Washington,D.C.,Samuel P.Sellers of Arnold City,Thomas D.Garner of Maryland,Eugene M.Garner of Monessen,and Leon M.Garner of Pittsburgh,five daughters,Retha A.Sellers of Washington,D.C.,Lillian Gordon of Washington,D.C.,Emory Graham of Maryland,Florence Delaine Garner of Washington,D.C.,and Nancy Marie Garner of Maryland,one sister,Alice Bell,of Philadelphia,27 grandchildren,seven great-grandchildren,and a host of other relatives and friends. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m.and 7 to 9 p.m.at the William R.Taylor Funeral Home,645 McMahon Ave.,Monessen,and Friday,from 2 to 9 p.m.at the Antioch Baptist Church,Belle Vernon,where the body will lie in state until the time of services Saturday at 1 p.m.with the Rev.Luther Wormack,pastor,officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The William R.Taylor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
