Obituary

John W.Gray,formerly of the Belle Vernon Apartments,Belle Vernon,died Tuesday,Feb.17,1981 at 8:45 a.m.in Uniontown Hospital. He was 92. Born July 26,1888 in Vanderbilt,he was the son of the late John W.and Mary White Gray. He had lived in Belle Vernon the last 35 years,having formerly resided in Monessen. Mr.Gray was a retired car repairman for the Monessen-Southwestern Railway of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel,Monessen plant. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. Mr.Gray was preceded in death by his wife,Bessie Lint Gray,on March 21,1968,and a son,Eugene Gray,on May 22,1974. Survivors include one son,Terry Gray of Belle Vernon,three daughters,Mrs.Naomi Jones of Coraopolis,Helen Gray of Altoona,and Mrs.Harry C.(Wanda) Ellison of Belle Vernon,a sister,Mrs.Mossie Evans of Vanderbilt,and 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon,on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home,with the Rev.Lee Dinsel,pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Shelby D.Ferguson,funeral director,is in charge of arrangements.
