Services were held today for John J.Galla of 101 Galla St.;Arnold City;Belle Vernon;who was pronounced dead on arrival at Mon Valley Hospital at 10:55 p.m. Thursday;Aug.2;1979. Mr.Galla was 86. He was born in Washington Twp.on Jan.19;1893. He was a member of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in Fayette City and was a World War I veteran of the U.S.Navy. He also was retired from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. Survivors include his widow;Anna Kolesar Galla;four sosn;Andrew Galla of Perryoplois;Eugene Galla of Grindstone;and John and George Galla;both of Monessen;two daughters;Mrs.Anna Ziemba of Alexandria;Va.;and Mrs.Helen Patrick of Monessen;23 grandchildren;and 19 great-grandchildren. Mr.Galla was preceded in death by two sons;Paul in 1951 and Joseph in 1968. A prayer service was held this morning in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;Fayette City;followed by Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church;with the Rev.Thomas Rinn as celebrant. Interment was in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home;was in charge of arrangements.
