Obituary

Frank Fundy,of North Belle Vernon,died Tuesday,Aug.11,1998,at 11:56 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital. Born in Monessen,he was the son of the late John and Assunta Santoro Fundy. Mr.Fundy was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon. He came to Belle Vernon from Monessen in 1949 and was the founder of Fundy's Hardware and Furniture Store. He was retired from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. A U.S.Army Air Force veteran of World War II,he served in Italy and Africa and was a life member of VFW Post 699,Belle Vernon. He was also a member of the Fayette City Senior Citizens,the Italian Society of Mutual Aid of Monessen and the YMCA in Carroll Township. In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by a sister,Delilah Steeple. Surviving are his wife,Elizabeth Derzy Fundy,with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage on June 13,1998,one son,Joseph Krivoniak of Coal Center R.D.1,two daughters,Sandy Fundy of Mt.Washington,Pittsburgh,and Linda Lamb of Severna Park,Md.,two brothers,Fred Fundy of Belle Vernon and Attilio Fundy of the state of California,three sisters,Mary Praskarich of Coal Center,Eleanor Mancuso of Belle Vernon and Loretta Hadjantoni of Michigan,five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.,700 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. A prayer service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m.in the funeral home,followed by Funeral Mass a 10 a.m. in St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,Belle Vernon,with the Rev.Donald P.Trexler,parochial vicar,as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.
