Tony Filardi;83;of Monessen;died Thursday;May 15;1997;in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born July 31;1913;in Monessen;a son of the late Salvatore and Josephine Scaletta Filardi. He was Catholic by faith and a lifelong resident of Monessen. He retired after 24 years of service for Page Steel and Wire;Monessen. He later worked at the Charleroi Plant of Corning Glass. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by his wife;Derna A.Filardi on March 5;1989;and one brother;Joseph Filardi Sr.on April 22;1984. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law;Anthony and Ruth Ann Filardi Jr.of Fayette City;and Richard Falardi of Brandon;Fla.;and Ellen Filardi of Belle Vernon;and two grandchildren;Richard Filardi Jr.;and Mrs.Peter J.(Shawn Marie) Vincent;and one brother and sister-in-law;Salvatore and Sarah Filardi of Pittsburgh;and one sister;Mrs.Salvatore (Lena) Battaglia of Santa Monica;Calif. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Stephen D.Yoney Jr.Funeral Home;First Street and Schoonmaker Avenue;Monessen;where funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m.with Fr.Paul Lisik;pastor of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church;Monessen. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The Stephen D.Yoney Jr.Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
