Charles M. Felak, 88, of Aiken, S.C., formerly of Speers Hill, Charleroi, died Monday, Dec. 16, 1996, at 5:15 p.m. at home. Born Nov. 18, 1908, in Calumet, he was the son of the late Alexander and Julia Koschalk Filak. Mr. Felak resided in Speers for 52 years and had been a resident of Aiken, S.C., for the past two years. He was a member of St. John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church, Monessen. He retired from Pittsburgh Steel where he had been a heavy equipment operator for 35 years. He was a member of Steel Workers Union Allenport Local 1187 and of the Russian Club of Pricedale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kutsik Felak, on Sept. 25, 1994; two sisters, Theresa Pudish and Marie Choker; and one brother, Steve Filak. Surviving are three sons, Ramon Felak of Monessen and Thomas Felak and David Felak, both of Aiken, S.C.; one brother, Andrew Filak of Belle Vernon: one sister, Anne Pierce of Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Leonard J. Parzynski Funeral Home, 626 Broad Ave.,Belle Vernon. A Blessing Service will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m.in the funeral home with the Rev.John Horosky,pastor of St.John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church,Monessen,officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. A Parastas service will be conducted Friday at 7:30 p.m.in the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Mr.Felak to Hitchcock Hospice,721 Richland Ave.,West,Aiken,S.C.,29801. Arrangements are being handled by the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home.
