William J. (Scotty) Ferguson;86;formely of Belle Vernon and Charleroi;died Wednesday;March 9;1988;in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born July 29;1901; a son of the late James and Margaret Irvine Ferguson. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church;Belle Vernon;and the Fayette City American Legion Club. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp’s Allenport Plant in 1962. Besides his parents;he was preceded in death by his wife;Mabel Robbins Ferguson;who died March 13;1974;and one brother;Pete Ferguson;in 1970. Survivors include two sons;Harold Ferguson of Monessen and William Ferguson of Donora;two daughters;Mrs.Thelma Traynor and Mrs.Hoyt (Harriet) Kite;both of Belle Vernon;one sister;Mrs.Mary Grant of Charleroi;10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home;700 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;where funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
