Obituary

George Dohanich,68,of Fairhope,Belle Vernon,died Monday,Nov.6,1989,at 10 p.m. in Mercy Hospital,Pittsburgh. Mr.Dohanich was born May 5,1921,in Fayette City,a son of the late John and Mary Balluch Dohanich. He retired from the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) department of the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.in 1977. Mr.Dohanich was a member of St.Mary Byzantine Catholic Church,Monessen,and the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club. He had been a resident of Fairhope since 1947. His wife,Irene Hegedus Dohanich,died Aug.24,1989. Two brothers,Mike and Andrew Dohanich,are also deceased. Surviving are three daughters,Georgetta Burger of Monessen,Jean Ciliberti of Belle Vernon and Joan Dohanich of Vanderbilt,four grandchildren,one brother,John Dohanich,of Las Vegas,Nev.,and five sisters,Anna Grofik of Vestal,N.Y.,Mary Selich of Riverview,Mich.,Helen Luzanski of Belle Vernon,Christina Rihtarcik of Fayette City,and Julia Consonery of Belle Vernon. Friends will be received Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home,Fayette City,where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday,followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St.Mary Byzantine Catholic Church,Monessen,with Msgr.Andrew D.Parvensky,pastor,as celebrant. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. A service For the Dead will be held in the funeral home at 7 p.m. Thursday. Arrangements are being hamdled by the Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home.
