Obituary

Larry E. Carr, 78, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Oct. 26, 2024, at his home with his family. Born Aug. 23, 1946, in Monongahela, he was the son of the late Louis and Alice Gregory Carr. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 55 years, Larry was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Monongahela Post Office, with 36 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Naomi Athletic Club, enjoyed camping at Mountain Pines in Champion, playing “Texas Hold’em,” playing his fantasy football league and most of all spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Sabolek Carrto, whom he was married to 55 years; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry T. Carr of Belle Vernon and Brian (Karen) Carr of Belle Vernon; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly (Bob) Capanna of Murrysville; three grandchildren, Landon Carr, Bobby Capanna and Kacie Capanna; and three brothers and sisters-inlaw George (Mimi) Carr of N.J., Jim (Anette) Carr of Monongahela and Danny (Joanne) Carr of Ariz. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Carr and Louis Carr Jr.; three sisters, Mina Wilhelm, Rochelle Dzardo and Mernie Radabaugh; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Layne Capanna. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at PARAZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Prayers of transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the funeral home, followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian R.C. Church with Msgr. James Gaston as celebrant.
