Gary R. Kossar, 81, of North Belle Vernon, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 in his home. A son of the late John and Mary Yursko Kossar, he was born on July 6, 1942 in North Charleroi. Formerly of Monessen, Gary has resided in North Belle Vernon for the past 50 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in Vietnam and was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the East Belle Vernon Athletic Association and the American Legion Post 659. Gary was a teacher and a principal at Washington School District, retiring in 1997 after 25 years of employment. He was an avid Pitt fan, Mountaineer fan, Monessen Greyhound fan and Washington Prexies fan. He is survived by his wife, Robinette Jesick Kossar, a daughter, Kalie Kossar of Morgantown, WV, a son, Scott Kossar of Belle Vernon, and a granddaughter, Katlyn Kossar. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a son, Todd Kossar in 2022, a grandson, Logan Kossar in 2023, and a brother, John Kossar.
