Michael (Mike) Coates, 93,of Fayette City,died Saturday,May 1,1999,in the Henry Clay Villa,Markleyburg,after a lengthy illness. Mr. Coates was born in Poland on December 12,1905, the son of the late George and Catherine Pochlopek Coates. Protestant by faith,he was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.,Allenport plant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,Hazel McCrory Coates,on April 6,1977; a sister, Christine Coates and four brothers,Charles, Frank,Joseph and Stanley Coates. He is survived by a daughter, Nancy and her husband Ronald J.Larson of Sterling Heights,Mich.; a grandson, Matthew Michael Larson of South Lyon,Mich.;two brothers, Peter and Thomas (Tam) Coates,both of Fayette City R.D. and four sisters, Mary Kaufman of Largo,Fla.,Rose and her husband Charles Homanics,Helen Yetsconish and Blanche Coates, all of Fayette City R.D. Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday until 11 a.m. in the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home Inc.,334 Main St.,Fayette City. Services will be at 11 a.m. in the funeral home,with the Rev. Ricky Nelson of the Fayette City Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. officiating.
