Obituary

Michael Conn, 86, of 408 Wood St., Belle Vernon, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at home. Mr. Conn was born Dec. 17, 1912, in Dawson, the son of the late Ross and Rosa Rossi Conn. A long time resident of Belle Vernon, he was a foremen for the basic oxygen furnace plant of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel's Monessen plant until his retirement in 1975. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Philippines during World WarH. He was a member of St. Sebastian's Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon, American Legion Post 659 in Belle Vernon, and was a former member of the Mon Valley Retirees Bowling League and the American Legion Bowling League. He is survived by a son, Eugene Conn of Monessen, a daughter, Phyllis Saxburg Morgan of North Huntingdon, one brother, Lewis Conn of Monessen, seven grandchildren, David Saxburg, with whom he lived, Eugene Conn Jr., Renee Conn and Loree Conn of Monessen, Scott Saxburg, Myersdale, and Chris and Jennifer Saxburg, both of North Huntingdon, five great grandchildren, John and Derek Conn, both of Monessen, Daniel and Dylan Saxburg of North Huntingdon and Austin Saxburg of Myersdale. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve A. Fazio Conn in 1987, and two brothers, Anthony Conn and Ralph Conn. Friends were received Sunday and will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral Home Inc., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon,where a Prayer service will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.,followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m.in St.Sebastian's Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
