Obituary

Hilda S. Cummings, 85, of
Belle Vernon, died Saturday,
Aug. 29, 1998, in Country Care
Manor, Washington Township.
Born Aug. 18, 1913, in Belle
Vernon, she was a daughter of
the late Oscar and Ethel
Rumble Strenske.
Mrs. Cummings was a member of the First Presbyterian
Church of Belle Vernon, where
she had served as an elder.
She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star Belle Vernon Chapter 196 and the National Retired Teachers
Association.
A lifelong resident of Belle
Vernon, she was a graduate of
California State Teachers
College.
She had been a school teacher
for 35 years, finishing her career at Rostraver Elementary
School in the Belle Vernon Area
School District.
In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by
her husband, William I. Cummings, who died Sept. 6, 1969,
one brother, Oscar Strenske,
and three sisters, Helen Hart,
Edith Jones and Betty Stotler.
Survivors include one son
and daughter-in-law, William
O. and Misty Cummings of Morgantown, W.Va., one brother,
David Strenske of Ocala. Fla.,
two sisters, Doris Wilson of
West Mifflin and Patty Stimmel
of Belle Vernon, two grandchildren, Michael William Cummings of Fairmont, W.Va.. and
Carrie Jean Cummings of Columbus, Ohio, and two great-grandchildren, Miranda and
Roger Cummings.
Friends will be received
Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and
Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to
9 p.m. in the Ferguson Funeral
Home Inc.. 700 Broad Ave..
Belle Vernon,where funeral services will be held Thursday,Sept.3,1998, at 11 a.m.with the Rev. James Ramsey,pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon,officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Ferguson Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of arrangements.
