Obituary

John R. "J.R." Clark Sr.,80,of Belle Vernon,died Friday, Nov. 15,1996,in Mon Valley Hospital,Carroll Township. Born Feb. 5,1916,in Alverton, he was a son of the late Mack and Belva Rodgers Clark.  A retired coalminer,Mr. Clark was a member of Covenant Christian Church of Belle Vernon. He was a former borough councilman in Belle Vernon. Mr. Clark was inducted in the Softball Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City,Oklahoma,after pitching a no-hit softball game in 1962.  In addition to his parents,he was preceded in death by his wife,Pearl,in 1991,and a son,David E.Clark Sr.,in 1990. Survivors include three sons, Richard Clark and John R. Clark Jr.,both of McKeesport and Thomas Clark of Monessen;two daughters, Bernita Brown and Shelva Clark,both of Belle Vernon;three sisters, Marge Linsey and Virginia Matthews,both of Belle Vernon and Bernita Remege of Fayette City;15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Sunday and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home, Fayette City,where services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Frank DePolo officiating.  Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
