Melvin H. Cook Sr.,92,of 123 Sixth Ave.,New Eagle,died Tuesday,April 30,1996,in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born March 31,1904,in Monessen,a son of the late Frank and Delia Learnard Cook. He was a member of the First Baptist Church,Monessen,and had been employed at the Page Division of ACCO as a foreman before retiring. Survivors include his wife,Mary Katherine Groger Cook;three sons, Robert Cook of Pittsburgh,Melvin H. Cook Jr.of New Eagle,and James E. Cook of Belle Vernon;three daughters,Mrs. John (Joan) Torok of Monessen,Mrs. Bill (Mary) Holzapfel of Charleroi,Mrs.Leonard (Patricia) Staley of Finleyville;19 grandchildren;17 great-grandchildren,one great-great-grandchild;two brothers, Leonard Cook of Monessen and Fremont Cook of Geneva,Ohio;and one sister,Marian Hicks. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc.,1209 Grand Blvd.,Monessen. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m.with the Rev. David Fink officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Rhome Funeral Home Inc.is in charge of the arrangements.
