Obituary

Freeda M. Martin, 86, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late Emanuel and Hester Baker Casteele, she was born in Naomi on March 5, 1929. A resident of Belle Vernon for her entire adult life, she was a member of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon where she was the treasurer for over 20 years. Survivors include her son, John "Ed" Martin Jr., with whom she made her home; one sister-in-law, Grace Trembach; one brother-in-law, Dominic Pro; her two best friends, Shirley Lewellen of Belle Vernon and Sandy Edwards of Fallowfield Township; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John "Ed" Martin Sr. on Dec. 6, 2012; five sisters, twins, Della Pro and Stella Granlund, Mazie Naspinsky, Ada Usher and Elizabeth Luketic, and two brothers, James and Louis Casteele. Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 724-929-5300, 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon,www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. Funeral services will be in the funeral home at noon Monday with the Rev. Don Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
