Elliott Finley Carson Sr.of 44 Marion Villa;Arnold City;died Sunday;Aug.11;1983;in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Twp. He was 87. Mr.Carson was born Jan.17;1896;in North Belle Vernon;a son of the late Patrick Carson and Anna Maxwell Carson. The last of 14 children in his family;Mr.Carson was retired from employment as a coal miner in the Somers Mine;Pricedale. He was a member of the Pleasant Green A.M.E.Church;Pricedale;which he served as a church steward. Surviving are his wife;Evelyn Carson;at home;two sons;James Carson of Chicago;Ill.;and Elliott Finley Carson Jr.of Arnold City;one daughter;Mrs.Ida Gordon of Pricedale;six grandchildren;and four great-grandchildren. Mr.Carson was preceded in death by two sons;John and Floyd Carson. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.at the William R.Taylor Funeral Home;645 McMahon Ave.;Monessen;and at the Pleasant Green AME Church;Pricedale;on Tuesday from 2 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.at the Pleasant Green AME Church;Pricedale;with the Rev.Bertha Sydnor;pastor;officiating. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The William R.Taylor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
